April 30, 2010 | One of the Best Each Friday we provide you with one of the week's most thought-provoking articles. | My Peace Plan: An Israeli Victory By Daniel Pipes This month, Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak declared that Israel must withdraw from Palestinian territories. "The world isn't willing to accept — and we won't change that in 2010 — the expectation that Israel will rule another people for decades more," he said. "It's something that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world." Is he right? Is peace even possible? And if so, what form should a final agreement take? Those are the questions we asked National Post writers in our series "What's Your Peace Plan?" Read on... | One that calls for a Response Each Friday we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home. | Jordan's King Abdullah II warned: Israel is "playing with fire by carrying out unilateral actions in East Jerusalem which the Jewish state captured from Jordan in the 1967 war. … “I am afraid the tension could develop into an explosion with all parties paying the price,…. "Israel should choose between living in an isolated fortress in the region or reaching peace with all Arab and Islamic states in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative,… "If we hit the summer and there's no active [peace] process, there's a very good chance for conflict, and nobody wins when it comes to that." God says: “See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land that Yahweh swore he would give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – and to their descendants after them.”… “It is mine to avenge; I will repay…I will take vengeance on my adversaries and repay those who hate me. … “Rejoice O nations, with his people, for I will avenge the blood of his servants; he will take vengeance on his enemies and make atonement for his land and his people.” (Deuteronomy 1:8, 32:35, 41, 43). The Jerusalem Connection says: Daniel Pipes is right; there is no substitute for victory. That will come however, only when Messiah intervenes on behalf of Israel and all of God’s people, when He comes (again!) (Zechariah 14:1-5). The diplomatic dance will continue to no avail. But we need to be reminded, “The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power.” (I Corinthians 4:20). Only the power of God will bring peace to Jerusalem, not the talk of men. So, if we are serious about praying for the peace of Jerusalem we should first pray the prayer of Asaph in Psalm 83. God has to answer that prayer before any prayer for the peace of Jerusalem is answered. | Hamas TV: Iceland volcano was Allah's punishment for "Infidels and polytheists" by Palestinian Media Watch A Palestinian cleric preaching on Hamas TV said the volcano in Iceland and the volcanic ash that paralyzed European air travel were sent by Allah to punish "Infidels and polytheists with fear and terror."
