October 16, 2009 | One of the Best Each week we provide you with one of the week's most thought provoking articles. | Will Safe Houses be Needed Again? by James M. Hutchens This week an above the fold headlines of the Washington Times stated: “Israelis may stay home to avoid arrest.” The lead article went on to say, “Israel is seriously considering restricting travel to Europe by its senior officials and military officers fearing they might be arrested in the wake of a disputed U.N. report [The Goldstone Report] that accuses the Jewish state of targeting civilians in its Gaza war earlier this year.” This is but another example of the growing anti-Israel and anti-Zionist sentiment (that Dr. Martin Luther King, in 1967, correctly labeled anti-Semitism), which many see as rising to pre-WWII levels, especially in Europe, but also in the U.S. As a matter of fact Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu is on record as saying “It is 1930 and Iran is Germany.” Others have noted the similarities of the anti-Semitism of the 1930’s, not only in Iran, but in Europe and even in the United States. This is particularly true with the world wide growth of Islam and its inherent antipathy toward both Jews and Christians. Speaking of the Mahdi, who is Islam’s coming Messiah, Ayatollah Ibrahim Amini has declared, “The Mahdi will offer the religion of Islam to the Jews and Christians; if they accept it they will be spared. Otherwise they will be killed.” (Amini, Al-Iman Al-Mahdi). Shalev accused the world of "doing nothing" about Hamas' smuggling of Iranian arms into Gaza, its launching of attacks from schools, mosques and hospitals, or its firing of 12,000 rockets against innocent Israeli civilians. God says: “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding people reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves … On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.” (Zechariah 12:2-3, 6). The Jerusalem Connection says: The United Nations already represents, in word, “all the nations of the earth gathered against Israel.” It is just a matter of time when that will be true in deed as well – and that time appears to be fast approaching. Jesus said, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28). Even more exciting is the promise of the prophet, “Then Yahweh will go out and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem.” (Zechariah 14:3).
