The Question of Jerusalem?
by David Parsons

The Obama administration’s outlandish demands that east Jerusalem be included in a total freeze on Jewish settlement activity has once again brought to the fore the thorniest issue in the Israeli-Arab conflict: the fate of Jerusalem.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was genuinely caught off guard in May when US President Barack Obama began openly insisting on a complete halt to all Jewish building in the disputed territories. It took a few weeks for the Netanyahu government to find its footing on the issue and begin issuing assurances that discreet negotiations with Washington would soon work out a deal allowing some continued growth in the settlements.  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Former Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Yoram Ettinger said:  The idea that a Palestinian state can lead to enduring peace in the Middle East has become a diplomatic obsession for American policy makers. In fact, however, a Palestinian state would not only fail to bring peace and stability to the region, but would make it an even more dangerous place than it already is. And ironically, given its adamant backing for a government that would have been led by Yasser Arafat and now would be headed by Abu Mazen, U.S. support for the creation of “Palestine,” which would immediately ally itself with and become a client of rivals and enemies of America such as Iran, would harm American, Israeli, and even Arab interests. . . .

The long and determined effort by American administrations to soften the Palestinian Authority’s harsh features cannot change the fact that a Palestinian State would add fuel to the fire of terrorism in the region.

In tying its fortunes to the creation of such a state, the United States may be signing a suicide note for its Middle East policy.

God says: “I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them, says the LORD your God.”… “I will make an everlasting covenant with them; I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will most assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.”  (Amos 9:14-15; Jeremiah 32:40-41).

The Jerusalem Connection says: American foreign policy with respect to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is on a collision course with God. Regarding the United States, as the saying goes, “your arm is too short to fight with God.” Guess who wins? Not only is the two-state solution being imposed, a no win situation for both Israel and the US. It is politically, economically, geographically and every other way, unsustainable. A Palestinian state will always be a subjugated state; totally dependent on others to survive. Especially under the deranged and incompetent leadership it seems destined for. What’s the solution? Let the dictates of the God of Israel determine our foreign policy. Help facilitate His everlasting covenantal decrees regarding a promised homeland for the Jewish people. Otherwise everybody looses big time!
