| One of the Best Each week we provide you with one of the week's most thought provoking articles. | That his name may be declared in all the Earth By Stan Goodenough
Jews prepared this week to celebrate their forefathers’ escape from forced submission to an ancient superpower that was once their friend and ally. As they did, reports from Washington warned of the imminent mounting of an extraordinary effort to coerce Israel into compliance with the dictate of the modern superpower the Jewish state has long regarded as its friend and ally. US officials say President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are determined to fight any effort by the new Netanyahu government to back away from the process that demands the surrender of the historic heartland of the Jewish people for the creation of an Arab state. “In an unprecedented move,” Ha’aretz reported Tuesday, “the Obama administration is readying for a possible confrontation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by briefing Democratic congressmen on the peace process and the positions of the new government in Israel regarding a two-state solution. Continue Reading>> | One that calls for a Response Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home. | Israel’s new Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said: "There is one document that obligates us, [The Road Map to Peace]- and that's not the Annapolis conference, it has no validity. The Israeli government never ratified Annapolis, nor did Knesset. Israel [will] follow a course charted by the U.S.-backed peace road map… This is not an empty statement, but an expression of a change in Israel's policy regarding the peace process." God says: “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands… The land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden. But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land the LORD your God cares for; the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.” (Deuteronomy 7:9, 11:10-12) The Jerusalem Connection says: “The Road Map to Peace” stipulated basic conditions for Palestinians, 1. Terrorism must cease 2. Israel’s right to exist as a sovereign state must be affirmed, and 3. All previous agreements must be recognized and abided by. The Palestinians have met none of these requirements. “Annapolis” set aside all these requirements and wanted to jump to “final solution” issues like the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem. Israel did not agree to this, and, as Foreign Minister Lieberman has declared, Annapolis is not a part of future peace talks. All of these talks however, fail to recognize and emphasize the fact that God has decreed by covenant promise that the land belongs to Israel. It is time that Israel stand up and play its trump card God has spoken regarding the land and the Jews, and He has not equivocated, “The land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants.”(Leviticus 25:23). | Freedom for Gilad Shalit
