Bush's December Surprise
By Michael Freund

With just a month left to go before he leaves office, George W. Bush has decided to pull the trigger and drop a bomb on the Middle East. Only instead of targeting Iran's illicit nuclear program, or Syria's nefarious regime, the outgoing US president has inexplicably chosen to detonate a diplomatic device over the heads of all Israelis.

In a move that was said to have been "personally led" by Bush, diplomats from the 15 member nations of the UN Security Council convened for an emergency session on Saturday to discuss the text of a proposed resolution aimed at tying the hands of Israel's next government.

The draft resolution, which was slated to be passed Tuesday, calls on Israel and the Palestinians to continue to negotiate "core issues" such as dividing Jerusalem, even after the present Israeli and Palestinian governments leave office in 2009.

"The initiative," as Haaretz reported on Sunday, "is seen as a bid to cement the Annapolis process with the approval of the highest authority," with Bush hoping that Security Council backing will make it "irreversible." This, he believes, will result in "shielding it from the administration changes in both Israel and the US."  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Former Ambassador to the United States (and great friend to Christian Zionists), Danny Ayalon said: "I don't see any point right now in negotiations with the Palestinians, which would be an exercise in futility, they need to get their house in order, and while they do that, we should change our political system." Regarding what many consider his main accomplishment in Washington, President Bush's letter of April 14, 2004, indicating support for Israel keeping major population centers in the West Bank, Ayalon predicted that it "will be remembered as equal in its importance to the Balfour Declaration."

God says
: "I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge uprightly. When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm. To the arrogant I say, 'Boast no more,' and to the wicked, 'Do not lift up your horns. Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak with outstretched neck.' No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man. But it is God who judges: He bring one down, He exalts another." (Psalm 75:2-6).

The Jerusalem Connection says: What former Ambassador Ayalon says makes sense. He is willing to think outside the box and hopefully so will the Obama administration. We'll see! Ayalon's suggestions will no doubt be labeled as "racism" by liberals in the U.S as well as Israel. Sooner or later however, both countries will have to recognize that a Palestinian state is based on delusional fantasy. Moreover it is an act of flagrant defiance of the covenant promises of the God of Israel. The Obama administration would do well to take these promises "literally." Sadly, the President Bush did not. As a result the region is contaminated with a boiling caldron of Jihadism.

No Two State Solution

We have to face up to reality. There’s no way to sugarcoat this. The two-state solution is rapidly nearing its tipping point. Tipping point… you know, that moment when slow and gradual change drip, drip, drip suddenly becomes a deluge.

If two-state is frighteningly near its tipping point, what does this mean for those of us who reject a two-state solution? What are the consequences for those of us who carry a Zionist vision of a Jewish homeland from the river to the sea? How does this affect those who advocate a return from exile, the unification of Jerusalem, restoration of the Temple, and await Moshiach?
