Will U.S. push Israel to concede biblical heartland?
by Aaron Klein

The Palestinian Authority has asked the U.S. to impose sanctions on Israel if the Jewish state continues building any new housing structures in the strategic and historic West Bank, a top PA source told WND.

The source, who works from PA President Mahmoud Abbas' office, said the threat of sanctions would be part of a series of Israeli-Palestinian understandings to be guaranteed by the U.S. that both sides are trying to reach before January.

The understandings, the source said, would result in an eventual Israeli withdrawal from the vast majority of the West Bank, an area rich in biblical history and significance.

Last week, informed Israeli and Palestinian sources told WND that despite media reports painting a dismal picture of negotiation prospects, Israel and the PA are still quietly working to conclude a major agreement before President Bush leaves office at the end of the year.

Aside from a major West Bank withdrawal, the agreement would also grant the PA permission to open official institutions in Jerusalem but would postpone talks on the future status of the capital city until new Israeli and U.S. governments are installed next year.

A top source said the PA requested that as part of the understandings, the U.S. would threaten sanctions for any new Jewish construction in the West Bank.  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Caroline Glick, deputy managing editor of The Jerusalem Post said: "Today Israel is threatened with annihilation and the U.S. Jewish community is suffering from more blatant and organized anti-Semitic attacks than it has seen in the past fifty years. ... Israel's next government will be called on to defend Israel against Iran and its Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese proxies, And it will be called to act at a time when the U.S. is led by an Obama administration pledged to appease these forces. Israel will have to rally all of its supporters in the U.S. to its side in order to stand up for its survival. In light of the American Jewish vote, it is an open question whether Israel will receive the help of its American Jewish brethren in its hour of need."

God says: "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. ... "On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place." (Zechariah 12:2-3,6).

The Jerusalem Connection says: In noting the future waning support for Israel, Caroline Glick has also revealed the future mission of the Christian Zionist -- "to stand up for its (Israel's) survival." Not only will Israel's survival be challenged, but also the survival of those who support Israel. Let's face it, God's people, Christian and Jew, will be refined by fire before Messiah returns. May His grace enable us to be faithful to His call.

(Palestinian Media Watch)

This week the Palestinian Authority daily Al-Ayyam published a picture of Mahmoud Abbas - while behind him is a map of "Palestine" that erases and replaces all of Israel. In addition, the PA flag is placed above the map.

Abbas was speaking from the "Headquarters of the Palestinian Presidency" in Ramallah, that is, part of Abbas' office complex, at the opening meeting of the PLO Central Council.

Following are excerpts from a program about Iranian children in the "Jerusalem Day" parade. The program aired on Jaam-e Jam 1 TV on September 25, 2008.
