Obama, McCain and Israel
By Yoram Ettinger

A worldview shapes presidential attitudes toward Israel either as a strategic asset or a liability and toward Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights. A presidential worldview determines the scope of the US posture of deterrence in face of Middle East and global threats, which directly impacts Israel's national security.

For example, President Nixon was not a friend of the US Jewish community and was not a leader of pro-Israeli legislation in the US Senate. In 1968, he received only about 15% of the Jewish vote. However, his worldview recognized Israel's importance to US national security, as was demonstrated in 1970, when Israel rolled back a Syrian invasion of Jordan, preventing a pro-Soviet domino scenario into the Persian Gulf. It was Nixon's worldview which led him to approve critical military shipments to Israel - during the 1973 War - in defiance of the Arab oil embargo and brutal pressure by the Saudi lobby in Washington, and in spite of the Democratic pattern of the Jewish voters.

On the other hand, President Clinton displayed an affinity toward Judaism, the Jewish People and the Jewish State. However, his worldview accepted Arafat as a national liberation leader, elevated him to the most frequent guest at the White House, underestimated the threat of Islamic terrorism, unintentionally facilitated its expansion from 1993 (first "Twin Tower" attack) to the 9/11 terrorist tsunami, adding fuel to the fire of Middle East and global turbulence.

How would the worldview of Obama, McCain and their advisors shape US policy toward Israel?  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Gary Kah said: Make no mistake, the current [financial crisis] is very serious and will get worse. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan warned, "This is a once-in-a-century crisis."

As people increasingly feel the pinch in their pocketbooks, they will look for someone to blame for their hard times. So far, the federal government is getting the most heat. The Federal Reserve, which is responsible for many of our economic policy decisions, is especially feeling the pressure. The last two Fed Chairmen have been Alan Greenspan and Ben Bernanke -- both Jews. And some of the individuals overseeing our largest remaining banks are also Jewish. One can see the "handwriting on the wall."

I fear that with 8 million Muslims now in America, outnumbering the 5.7 million Jews, and with anti-Semitism on the rise among the general public, the Jewish people could once again become the scapegoat. History has a way of repeating itself. What is happening in America today is very reminiscent of what happened in Germany preceding the rise of Hitler. I believe it may be just a matter of time before Jews are persecuted and forced to return to Israel. The persecution of true Christians could follow on the heels.

Remember that God is still in control and is aware of all your needs. Pursue Him, work hard, plan wisely -- leave the rest in His hands. Expect Him to do great things, even under difficult circumstances.(Check out Gary Kah at http://www.garykah.org/ )

God says:The LORD has established His throne in heaven and His kingdom rules over all;”… “My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Messiah Jesus;” … “The Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone He wishes;” … “There is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” (Psalm 103:19; Philippians 4:19; Daniel 4:17; Romans 13:1).

The Jerusalem Connection says: Listening to the debate last night between Governor Palin and Senator Biden I was reminded that elections are merely the means by which God establishes authorities and places in leadership “anyone He wishes.” Having said that, I am also keenly aware that this election, both in the U.S. and Israel, will likely create a political environment that will have Biblical implications. It was encouraging to hear both candidates give strong statements in support of Israel. However, that may be put to the test if Gary Kah’s scenario comes to pass. In any case we need to pray for God’s mercy on His people.

If you haven't already, please add your signature to the "Resolution Regarding Israel" for Senator McCain and Gov. Palin.

HR 6975 (Jihad Prevention Act)

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., introduced a bill to the House of Representatives that seeks to prevent Islamic law from gaining a foothold in the U.S. legal system, as it has in other countries.

Tancredo introduced HR 6975, the Jihad Prevention Act, last week. If made into law, the bill would allow American authorities to prevent advocates of Islamic law, or Shariah, from entering the country, revoke the visa of any foreigners that champion it and revoke naturalization for citizens that seek to implement it in the U.S.

"When you have an immigration policy that allows for the importation of millions of radical Muslims," Tancredo said in a statement, "you are also importing their radical ideology an ideology that is fundamentally hostile to the foundations of Western democracy such as gender equality, pluralism and individual liberty.

"The best way to safeguard America against the importation of the destructive effects of this poisonous ideology is to prevent its purveyors from coming here in the first place," Tancredo said. (Reported by Drew Zahn © 2008 WorldNetDaily)

Please pray for Congressman Tancredo and this bill.  Congress will be going into recess but we will alert you in the future when it is time to mobilize support for HR 6975.
