Turning Plowshares into Swords
By Naomi Ragen

To live in Jerusalem is to face the fact that here, in the holiest city in the world, there are vast numbers of inhabitants who are the kind of human beings willing, able, and committed to performing acts of sickening bloodshed, breaking every rule that human beings have created for themselves or learned or been taught.  Worse, they involve G-d in their offenses, desecrating His name and His city in their maniacal search for the ultimate act of barbarism to promote their religion/politics/personal agenda.

Take Mr. Duwait.  A convicted rapist and felon who sat in jail for two years, a resident of the East Jerusalem Arab village Sur Baher, a relative of the terrorist who killed young yeshiva students in Mercaz Harav,  he climbed unto  a huge tractor and with astonishing barbarism plowed down a major Jerusalem thoroughfare, sowing unimaginable destruction.  As  journalist Tom Gross put it:

"Terrorists purposely target civilians, and this terrorist was no different. He chose his victims carefully, starting his attack by motioning with his hand for a woman motorist to drive before him. Then he rammed her car with the bulldozer's shovel."

He then used the bulldozer to plow into two public buses carrying passengers, including many women and children which he could clearly see through the buses' large glass windows. One of the buses was completely overturned, the other crashed. He then crushed a number of cars with their drivers still in them, and targeted several pedestrians chasing them down and running them over. A half-dozen cars were flattened and others were overturne by his Caterpillar vehicle as panic spread throughout the center of Israel's capital. Traffic was halted, and hundreds of people fled through the streets as medics treated the wounded.

One car was dragged several meters by the bulldozer. A baby was pulled out by a passerby before the vehicle was crushed, with the child's mother still inside. She died.  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Gary Bauer said: "Thankfully, there are still many young men and women who do appreciate America and cherish our freedoms even to the point of laying down their own lives. They are demonstrating their love of country in the deserts of Afghanistan and Iraq and in other far away places. May God bless them and protect them. May we always honor their service and the sacrifice of their loved ones who will miss them tremendously this holiday weekend.

On this July 4th, by all means enjoy that hotdog. Go to the baseball game. Enjoy your time with friends and family. But, my friends, please 'be about the business of making patriots.'  Take a moment to talk to your kids and grandchildren about the meaning of America, the risks our Founding Fathers took to win our freedom and the sacrifices that were made then, and those being made today to defend our liberty. Because patriotism does matter."

God saysEveryone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. (Romans 13:1-5)

The Jerusalem Connection says: We must not forget that he who bears the sword is the servant of God -- accomplishing His purposes. If the soldier, under his governing authority, bears the sword against God's revealed purposes, his actions, including his governing authorities, will be judged by God. We must be vilgilent to ensure that our governing authorities and our "sword" are never directed toward the demise of Israel.

McCain is marching forward
(Israel Initiative)

Extremely interesting events are taking place concerning our petition to Senator John McCain.

According to a Jordanian source, one of McCain's most trusted advisors, the neo-Conservative publicist, Robert Kagan, referred to the concept that "Jordan is Palestine" in a speech at New York University. In his words, the Palestinians already have a state where they are a majority, and there is no need to create another Palestinian state. Needless to say, Kagan’s words were not favorably received in Jordan, as they are based on the assumption that the regime in Jordan should be Palestinian, rather than Hashemite.

The Jerusalem Connection, along with Benny Elon, congratulate Kagan for his courage in extricating himself from the useless formula of dividing the western part of the State of Israel into two countries. It is our belief that it is wiser to strengthen, rather than weaken, the Jordanian regime. The continuation of the Hashemite regime doesn't need to conceal Jordan's existence as the national Palestinian home, on the contrary according to the Initiative, Jordan must be strengthened at this time, as a regime friendly to the West that possesses a high level of human rights, compared to other Arab countries.  (Read last week's article on Jordan's response to Kagan's remarks.)

The Jerusalem Connection, Intl. and partners are facilitating the "Resolution Regarding Israel" to Senator John McCain. If you haven't already, please add your signature.
