Dear Portia,
While these words are encouraging, they were followed by an obvious contradiction. Later in his speech President Bush said, “No nation should ever be forced to negotiate with killers pledged to its destruction.” Yet a major purpose for his visit to Israel was to “encourage” further “land for peace” talks with the Palestinian Authority. The administration is pressuring Israel to give up land given to them by “an ancient promise” to people pledged to eliminate and destroy them? When these two statements are placed side by side, the obvious contradiction is of major proportions. We need your support - to challenge and bring clarity to our policies regarding Israel! Giving is very much down this year for all ministries and non-profit organizations, including our own ministry. I am sure this is not the first letter you have received this month pleading for a donation. Though our readership continues to grow and our advocacy efforts gain more attention, The Jerusalem Connection is not immune to the prolonged dip in giving. We have a strong culture of volunteerism in our office and do all we can to keep our costs low so we can continue to provide our online material free to all who are seeking it. At the same time, we rely on a base line of subscriptions and donations coming in each month to cover our operating costs and to support our projects in Israel. Please partner with us by making a donation today. Your financial support is vital so that together we can stand with Israel.
God bless you, keep you and give you His peace, | |
